A VISIT TO REMEMBER
There are a large number of wonderful interesting places and gardens to visit. These include St Mawes, Portscatho, St Ives, the Minack Theatre and gardens include the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah, Trelissick House, Glendugan and Lamorran. The milder winters and steep slopes of many of the gardens allow them to grow tropical plants that would not survive in most other parts of the UK.

WALKING & LOCAL BEACHES

There are many sandy beaches nearby. Firm family favourites are Carne and Pendower beaches just a few miles away the other side of Veryan village, famous for its round houses which provided no corners for the devil to hide in!
Carne makes a great circular walk from Portloe and you will have certainly earned a coffee/lunch at the Nare Hotel.
Alternatively, Melinsey Mill, a lovely cafe and working mill, is a nice walk up from Pendower.
If its a nice day, pack a picnic (and maybe take a kite) and enjoy!

OTHER THINGS TO DO
There are lots of things to do from Portloe, covering all levels of activity depending on how far you wish to go and the season. Stay in Portloe and organise a private art or yoga lesson or organise for a chef to cook dinner for you and ask to share some of his secrets.
Go further afield and learn how to forage for local ingredients, create beach art, or take to the water in a kayak, paddleboard or fishing boat. You can have a bicycle, or Paddleboards, delivered to your door or you can ask the same rental service to take drop you and a bike off in a beautiful place for you to bike back .
There are some world class vineyards to visit or if you can't agree on a designated driver, why not take a tour that will collect (and return) you from the cottage?
For Poldark enthusiasts, visit the places where it was all filmed and including the underground world of a tin mine.
